18 Months!

I cannot believe my Barrett is already 18 months old! I wish I could freeze time because I am convinced my little stinker cannot ever be at a cuter or sweeter age. There are definitely times I think the "terrible twos" are starting early, but I wouldn't change his crazy loud, fun personality for the world! Here is a little bit(or a lot) about Barrett as a one and a half year old! But first, some picture fun from the day he turned 18 months.

-He sleeps 11-12 hours every night and will tell us "night night" when he is ready for bed. He sleeps with a thin baby blanket and four stuffed animals. Blue bear, chick, horse, and glow worm. He plays with glow worm and pushes the song button at least 50 times a day. In fact, the glow worm songs wake me up in the morning on the monitor.

-Nap times are usually around noon. He will sleep for an average of three hours.

-He eats a banana (along with various other foods) every single morning and calls them "anas". Eating is by far his favorite thing to do. The only food he doesn't really care for is green beans. His favorite foods are cereal, cheese, avocado, and peas. He only drinks water and asks for it if he can't find his cup. He asks for cereal every single day. If I open the fridge he begs for it (we keep the boxes in the fridge), if he sees one of our bowls he begs for it, and sometimes right when he wakes up from his nap he asks for cereal immediately. The boy has food on the brain constantly!

-Wearing size 18 months in most things, his pants are still all 12-18, size 5 shoe, and size 4 diapers.

-Has almost all of his teeth, but is getting four more in at once! He has had mild fever for over a week. He will hold his teeth and cry for mommy. I cannot wait for teething to be over, my baby needs some relief!

-He calls me mommy and Steven daddy. We always said mama and dada, so it's funny to me that he changed it. Mommy is my absolute favorite word; I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing it. His vocabulary is growing like crazy and he will repeat anything we say to him. He has always been this way, but now his words are becoming clear and it just amazes me that my baby is talking and growing up. One of the best things he says is "I love you". It melts me every single time. He also sings everyday. He sings the clean up song, songs from The Lorax, and I love you. Dancing is also an every day thing. Basically, he's either eating, talking, singing, dancing, or screaming. Quiet times have never existed with Barrett, except when he's napping.

-Things he says every day without being asked to repeat: Mommy, Daddy, Totie, Ash Ash, Logan, Pops, Na, I Love You, I Love Mommy, Mimi Mow (Mickey Mouse), Night Night, Hungry, Please, Help, Cereal (Gereal), Water, ball, On, Open, Off, Ellen, Golf Caddy, Ooooh Whoooo (Singing Snuggle Puppy when he brings me the book to read), and so much more toddler language that only parents understand. He knows a few signs in sign language- more, thank you, and all done. I worked very hard trying to teach him these signs to reduce the screaming involved at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Signing is definitely not his strong point, but it's pretty cool watching him get better and better.

-His favorite toys are still his Christmas presents. His Green shape sorter and shape puzzle are daily activities and he says his own little rendition of "circle" anytime we talk about shapes. Drumming is a favorite activity of his and I think he has a pretty good rhythm going on! He drummed right along with Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl halftime show. His golf set from Uncle Micah and Aunt Lauri is definitely his favorite toy to play with. He plays with the golf clubs individually, but his favorite is the part that holds the golf clubs that has wheels. We told him when he got it that it was a golf caddy so that is what he calls it. It's definitely Steven's favorite thing he says. He asks him every day what it is and Barrett says "Golf Caddy". He also likes to push his very own toddler dyson vacuum cleaner around when Mommy vacuums. Playing and pushing cars, planes, and boats around has also become a favorite activity of his.

-He is VERY social and gets excited when people come over or if he gets to go play with friends. He sees Logan 4 days a week, and on the days he doesn't see him, he talks about him. We went to Jett's birthday party and Barrett was in heaven being around all of the people-adults and kids. He gave hugs and kisses to Layla, one of my best friend's little girls (totally random- just walked up to her as she was standing there), and laughed when the adults laughed (like he was in on the conversation). I think it's so fascinating that behaviors and personalities are so strong at such a young age. I feel like I know exactly how he will be as an adult. His characteristics were clear as a newborn, but as a toddler it is easier to identify his behaviors and understand who he is. He is curious, dramatic, loud, happy, and completely full of love for other people. I love learning about my son and as much as I want to keep him this age forever, I look forward to all of the wonderful stages ahead. Time to start planning his Mickey Mouse themed second birthday party!
