Barrett is 15 months old today! I think I've said this on almost every update, but this is my favorite age so far. I guess, for me, it just gets better and better.
A normal day for us is Barrett waking up between 7-8 and immediately wanting breakfast. He is very demanding when it comes to food and I usually will have his banana ready for him when we come downstairs. He will demand more and more by signing "more" followed by yelling "please" until I just have to take him out of the highchair, but he has just recently started telling me he's all done after his last bite. It's been a shocking relief that he has started to calm down a little bit about wanting to eat more than me and Steven combined. He is my tiny bottomless pit!
After breakfast, it's play time. He likes to explore so he will usually walk around our house playing with all of his favorite things (his truck, living room toys, his one cupboard full of tupperware and cups for him, and blankets) or we will go in the playroom. He is very independent when he plays, but will always sit in my lap when he wants to look at a book, we read books a lot and I love that it's one of his favorite things to do.
He now says mama (my favorite!), dada, Ash Ash (still without the sh), thank you, all done, night night, quack quack, water, bye bye, please (dease), help (probably the most adorable-sounds like a high-pitched uhlm?), NaNa, card (loves playing with my cards from my wallet), block (definitely says this word like it starts with a C...-gotta work on the B sound asap!). He will really mimic anything we say and usually sounds pretty good, but these are the words he says on a daily basis. He will point to his head, belly button, eyes, and toes when asked and will stick out his tongue and open his mouth when asked. It's so funny to me how the smallest accomplishments become absolutely amazing when it's by your own child. Only a parent could understand how ridiculously proud I am when he sticks his tongue out on command.
His absolute favorite thing to do is dance! If there is music on he will dance. One of his favorite things to dance to is the Ellen show. He still loves being outside, but has stopped loving bath time the past few days. He has cried the past three nights because he had to take a bath. It is the weirdest thing! Brushing his teeth has finally become an easy, routine activity for us. He has gotten four teeth this month totaling 8 so far, so I finally have some teeth to brush!
Another quirk Steven and I have noticed for many months now is his concern and worry about not being able to do something right. If we ask him to repeat a word that he just doesn't know how to say he will be genuinely worried. It is the saddest thing! For the longest time he would not say mama or anything that began with an M. If we asked him too many times to say it, he would look down and act worried. Now, when we try to teach him new words we have to mix in the easy words he says all the time to build his confidence. What a sweetheart! I love him so much, and wouldn't change one thing about him!
I know this post was way too wordy for anyone other than myself. I realize other people do not need or sometimes even want to know all these details, but I love that I can go back and read exactly what my baby was doing. That's why I blog. I do it for the memories that I so desperately want to hold on to forever.
